England will look to make amends when they take on the West Indies in the second One-Day international (ODI) at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua on Sunday. The West Indies defeated England by 15 runs in the first on Friday after the visitors squandered an excellent platform that had put them in position to take the lead in the three-match series. Replying to the home side’s competitive total of 269 for six, England were restricted to 254 for six after cruising along merrily at 180 for two in the 37th over.
It’s the second one-day international of the three match series in the Caribbean between hosts West Indies and tourists England. After winning the first match in Antigua on Friday the home team will be looking to build on that success at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.A 116 run stand between all-rounder Darren Sammy and captain Dwayne Bravo helped guide the West Indians to success last time out, along with a solid bowling that display that led the Three Lions to collapse. It’s the start of a transition period for the visitors, as they begin life with talismanic batsman Kevin Pietersen, after the 33-year-old was dropped following the Ashes humiliation in Australia.Michael Lumb impressed with the willow in the first game, but the English do seem to have one eye on the three-match Twenty20 series in Barbados that immediately follows these ODI encounters.West Indies are also without their best batsman, as Chris Gayle is absent, although in Sammy, Bravo and Marlon Samuels they have players capable of scoring runs.
